Author, Aisha Nnoli, who wrote Good Morning Trees, joined Elementary teachers and two teacher leader facilitators from across the Puget Sound region to dig into the role of trees in climate change and how to share this with younger students. Two Saturdays in the fall and a number of after school sessions in the winter helped the teachers answer the question, “How Does a Seed Become a Tree?” by learning more about the carbon cycle and to consider ways to to share this with their elementary students. As teachers learned about the carbon cycle, they also experienced learning routines that support the three dimensional science reflected in the Next Generation Science Standards.
