Preschool Nature Walk

What was tried in the classroom?

I took my class for a nature walk outside on our playground. We talked about what we saw. We saw lots of leaves, bugs, sticks, and rocks (their favorite!).

When we finished our nature walk, we used chalk to draw what we saw on the paved areas of our playground. Prior to the nature walk, we talked about things we might see outside and read books that were related to nature.

How’d it go?

It actually went really well! The kids were engaged and stayed together. I teach special ed preschool so sometimes it’s always a toss up whether something new will go well or not. Also, keeping in mind the safety and accessibility for all students. We will definitely be trying this again this year!
