What was tried in the classroom?
I took my students on a walk and we observed our 5 senses while doing a nature walk. We drew pictures of what we were seeing, and talked about it on our sit spots. We then went back into class and used what we drew and discussed to write a personal narrative about our walk.
How’d it go?
It went great. They loved going outside and actually finding what they wanted to talk about. It kept them engaged because while we all went to the same space everyone in class had different things that they said. So they were talking about where they saw or smelt something.
