Join us for this class to learn how to use the Forward Climate Action Kit to teach students about coding and climate at the same time! This one-day class will demystify coding and basic electronics, help you empower students to build their own technical tools, and take you through several lessons compatible with the kit. We’ll spend our day assembling and coding projects, as well as discussing the basics of integrating this project into your curriculum. We’ll address connections to NGSS standards for science and engineering as well as Washington State computer science standards. Once you’re familiar, you can sign up to borrow kits for your class from ESD 112’s CS Materials Loan Program.
This class is appropriate for upper elementary through high school teachers who teach weather and/or climate as part of their curriculum. Substitute reimbursement is available up to $250 per teacher.
