Getting students outside more consistently

What was tried in the classroom?

I scheduled purposely to get students outside. I am an art teacher and we started with leaves. The students were given instructions and direct to-do list. We gathered leaves, made observations and then depending on the grade level we did art projects. Also, I took a small group of middle school to Deception Pass to do observations and then water color paintings. The kids loved it.

How’d it go?

The students love being outside. They were thrilled to be in nature. It is peaceful and a good way to see leaves, rocks, sky and clouds.
